AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Report Teases Explosive Reed Richards vs. Doctor Doom Rivalry

The Multiverse is on the brink, and if this latest report is accurate, Avengers: Doomsday is about to center one of Marvel’s most iconic rivalries in a big way.

Fans have been wondering how Marvel Studios would handle Victor Von Doom’s long-standing connection to the Fantastic Four, especially after Robert Downey Jr. was cast as the character. Now, it sounds like the studio is leaning all the way in.

At the heart of the dynamic between Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, and Doctor Doom, is a battle of intellect, ideology, and ego between two of the smartest minds in the Marvel universe.

For longtime comic fans, that’s exactly what you’d want. Doom vs. Reed sits right alongside legendary rivalries like Spider-Man and Green Goblin or Professor X and Magneto. It’s personal, philosophical, and usually explosive.

According to insider Alex Perez from Cosmic Circus, the film will give these two plenty of shared screen time, and their conflict will be rooted in how they approach saving reality itself. Perez explained:

“2 geniuses with 2 very different ideas on how to save the multiverse are eventually bound to clash. They’re like 2 sides of the same coin, except in Doom’s case, he’s more experienced in knowing what to expect with incursions, while Reed has only seen the theoretical aspect of it.”

That relationship is a recipe for tension. Reed is the thinker, the theorist, the guy who believes he can solve anything with logic. Doom, on the other hand, has actually faced the chaos of incursions head-on and seems far more willing to make ruthless choices to survive them.

There’s also growing evidence that the Fantastic Four won’t just be supporting players here. Reports have suggested that Doom will initially seek their help to deal with incursions threatening the Multiverse.

Reed and his team may even travel across realities alongside Steve Rogers, played again by Chris Evans, to warn the main MCU timeline about what’s coming.

Of course, this is Doctor Doom we’re talking about. Trust only goes so far.

Multiple insiders claim Doom will ultimately betray everyone, setting off a chain of events that leads to him seizing control of the Multiverse. There are even rumors that his plan involves taking power from Loki, reshaping existence into Battleworld, and positioning himself as the ultimate ruler.

If that plays out, it puts Reed Richards in direct opposition to a man who isn’t just his intellectual equal, but someone willing to cross lines Reed never would. That’s where things get really interesting.

At its core, this story isn’t just about saving the Multiverse. It’s about two brilliant minds staring at the same problem and coming to completely different conclusions about what’s acceptable to fix it, and when neither of them is willing to back down, something’s going to break.

Fans will get to see that collision unfold when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, launching what looks like a massive turning point for Phase 6 of the MCU.
