Chris Evans Addresses Reports that Marvel Plans To Reunite The Original Avengers

As you’ve heard, there’s a report saying that Marvel is considering bringing the original core Avengers team back together for a future Avengers film. It seems there are a lot of mixed feelings about bringing Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo back together again. Especially since the story arcs of Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Widow have been closed.

With the multiverse anything is possible, you can bring any of these characters back, but seriously, why would they want to open that all back up and water down the story that has been told for these characters?

While appearing on The View, Chris Evans was asked about these rumors about him coming back to play Captain America, and he said:

"You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me. I think every couple months, someone says that they’re getting Downey, and [Chris] Hemsworth, and Scarlett [Johansson], and everyone’s coming back! No one’s spoken to me about it. And look, I would never say never, but I’m very protective. It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right."

Over the years, Evans has been asked several times about the possibility of returning to the MCU and he’s been hesitant about the idea of revisiting the character of Steve Rogers. However, at one point Evans seemed a bit more enthusiastic about the prospect, saying:

“Yeah, maybe. I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience. But I’m also very precious with it. It’s something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t believe it even happened. And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing. So, no time soon.”

Johansson was also recently asked about her possible MCU return, and she said: “I feel like [Avengers: Endgame] is kind of the end, right? Like, can you come back? Could it be like a vampire version of the character? Because I’m here for that. Like a zombie version, maybe. It would be a miracle. It would be a real Marvel miracle. It would be a marvel. But, you know, who knows?”

If these characters do end up reuniting again one day, the place where it will most likely happen is Avengers: Secret Wars. Do you think the characters should be reunited in the MCU?
