Could Wolverine From DEADPOOL 3 Be The Live-Action Version From X-MEN: THE ANIMATED SERIES?
We recently got our first look at one of two versions of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in Deadpool 3 and for the first time ever as Wolverine, we get to see Jackman wearing the classic yellow costume! Fans have been flipping out over this and now there’s speculation that this version of Wolverine could be the live-action version of the classic 90s X-Men: The Animated Series.
This is all just speculation, but it is definitely possible! It’s not the first time a character from the X-Men animated series has been brought to life. Patrick Stewart previously played that universe’s version of Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, the door has been open for that to happen!
Bringing the live-action counterpart to the version of Wolverine from X-Men: The Animated Series definitely seems like something the creative team behind Deadpool 3 would do. It’s not hard to imagine a scene featuring Wolverine lying in a bed gazing mournfully at a photo. But, maybe they just wanted to finally put Jackman in the classic costume.
There’s really not much to go on other than the look of the costume. But, I would love it if Jackman was playing the animated version of Wolverine and I think the fans would dig it too. Do you think this is the case? Do you think the creative team would do that?
It was recently confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie and there are reports that several other X-Men characters could appear such as Halle Berry as Storm, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, and James Marsden returning to play Cyclops! There are also reports that Ben Affleck will be showing up in the movie as Daredevil and Channing Tatum appearing as Gambit. It was also previously reported that Deadpool 3 will feature more than two variants of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and two variants of Wolverine.
The movie is being directed by Shawn Levy, and the movie also stars Emma Corrin as the villain, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio.
When previously talking about Deadpool 3, Ryan Reynolds said: "Deadpool, for me, is kind of like an anxiety-inducing tightrope walk. I always think when I've got Deadpool just right, I'm speaking from experience from Deadpool 1 & 2, that I need to make it 30 to 40% percent better than it already it is. Even if I'm at the moment where I'm like, 'This is perfect, this moment!' Then, I stop and I go, 'Okay, this has to be 30% better than it already is.' It's a stressful thing to get right, or at least right as far as I'm concerned."
I think he and his team are going to pull off their goal of making a movie better than the first two. One thing is for sure, audiences and fans are going to have a blast watching it!
Deadpool 3 is currently slated to open in theaters on May 3, 2024.
