Daisy Ridley's Rey Will Reportedly Not Be the Lead of the New STAR WARS Movie
Here’s a bit of interesting news that’s being reported regarding Lucasfilm’s recently announced Rey Skywalker movie. According to entertainment reporter John Rocha of The Hot Mic Podcast, Daisy Ridley’s Rey will not be the lead of the film.
This is actually very surprising to learn due to the fact that at Star Wars Celebration, it was revealed that the film follows the events of Rise of Skywalker and will focus on Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order. That certainly makes it seem like she would be the lead character.
However, Rocha is saying: “From what I understand, and what some of the rumors have come out here is that Daisy won’t necessarily be the lead. She’ll be like the Luke [Skywalker] or the Obi-Wan [Kenobi] of the situation, and she’ll rebuild the new Jedi Order.”
Then Jeff Snieder, the other host and entertainment scooper on the podcast confirmed she “definitely” won’t be the lead, “but a supporting character instead.”
But, weren’t Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi lead characters? Maybe the film will include more of an ensemble cast. So, it won’t necessarily revolve around her. It was also reported that John Boyega is possibly coming back to reprise his role as Finn.
In regards to that, Snieder said: “I’ll tell you this. I’ll break this for myself. According to some sources I know, different sources, have reached out to me because of this show. And they have said to me, that according to them and what they’re hearing, is that John Boyega will be coming back for this movie.”
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) is attached to direct the film from a script written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).
I guess we’ll eventually find out what’s going on with all of this, but what do you think about these recent reports?
