John Boyega Reportedly Reprising His Role as Finn in The Rey Skywalker STAR WARS Movie

Earlier this month it was announced that Daisy Ridley was set to reprise her role as Rey Skywalker in a new Star Wars film that will follow the events of the sequel trilogy. It’s now being reported that John Boyega will be joining her, reprising his role as Finn.

During the most recent episode of The Hot Mic Podcast, insider John Rocha shared that he had heard from various sources that Boyega will be coming back for the film. He said:

“I’ll tell you this. I’ll break this for myself. According to some sources I know, different sources, have reached out to me because of this show. And they have said to me, that according to them and what they’re hearing, is that John Boyega will be coming back for this movie.”

Now, that’s far from a confirmation, but it really would make sense for Boyega to be involved with the movie. After it was announced, a lot of fans on social media were anticipating that this might happen.

Rocha went on to note that the problems Boyega have had with the Star Wars franchise have been smoothed over after he met with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy to talk about things.

A few years ago a fan asked Boyego if he would be interested in returning to the franchise and he responded with: "Lol, no thank you. I’ve moved on." In another reply, Boyega said, "Not into playing one role for too long. I have more to offer than that." But, we all know that money talks, and Disney and Lucasfilm could easily make him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Boyega has been open about not being happy with how his character was handled over the course of the franchise. The character definitely deserved a better story arc than what he got with that trilogy. Maybe this movie will be an attempt to fix things. We’ll just have to wait and see.

The film follows the events of Rise of Skywalker and will focus on Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) is attached to direct the film from a script written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).
