DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Is Rebuilding the Defenders… Just Not All at Once
Back in 2017, The Defenders brought together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist for one gritty team-up against The Hand. It was a one-and-done moment. Netflix pulled the plug on its Marvel shows not long after, and the team never got another shot. For a while, it looked like that corner of the MCU was done for good.
Then Marvel Studios slowly started bringing pieces back. Charlie Cox showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Vincent D’Onofrio returned as Kingpin in Hawkeye. And just like that, the door cracked open.
Now Daredevil: Born Again is becoming the central hub for these returning characters, and Season 2 is going to be something that fans are going to love, and it also will start to bring back some of the Defenders.
Season 2 will officially bring back Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, marking her first MCU appearance since her Netflix series ended. On top of that, Mike Colter is reportedly expected to pop in as Luke Cage, though it sounds like his role might be limited for now, with bigger plans possibly lined up for Season 3.
So, that brings three Defenders back in one show again. Naturally, fans are asking the obvious question… are we getting the full team back?
Rumors started picking up when Finn Jones, who played Iron Fist, teased that he was training in New York. It didn’t take long for speculation to explode.
But according to insider Cryptic HD QUALITY, fans shouldn’t expect Danny Rand just yet, sying “unfortunately not in S2… but he’s coming back!!”
The same scooper added, “You’ll definitely see a certain someone by the end of the show,” which most are interpreting as a nod to Luke Cage’s rumored appearance.
Another insider, The Beyond Reporter, backed up the claim and says Jones will return in Season 3. And that’s not all. According to the same report, Élodie Yung is also expected to return as Elektra, who fans last saw during The Defenders run.
If that pans out, Season 3 could be where things really come together in a bigger way.
For now, Season 2 looks like a partial reunion rather than a full-on Defenders revival. It’s exciting, but also feels like Marvel is taking its time rebuilding this corner of the MCU piece by piece instead of jumping straight into another team-up.
That approach might pay off. Let these characters breathe again, re-establish who they are, and then bring them together when it actually feels earned. Personally, I could care less about Finn Jones’ Iron Fist, but maybe they will actually make the character work this time.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 hits Disney+ on March 4, 2026, with Season 3 currently set for March 2027.
