DEADPOOL 3 Director Confirms LOGAN Is Canon and It Seems Like It Matters to the Film

Director Shawn Levy continues to talk about his excitement for Deadpool 3, and in the process he makes it very clear that James Mangold’s Logan is canon, and it seems like the events of that movie matters in the new Deadpool movie.

After it was announced that Hugh Jackman would be returning to reprise his role as Wolverine, fans wondered if that would change the events of Logan. In response to that, Ryan Reynolds said, “Logan died in Logan. Not touching that.”

Now Levy is throwing a massive amount of praise towards Logan and it’s pretty clear to me that Logan will play an important part in the story that Deadpool 3 will tell. Levy said:

“I have always said that I can’t wait for Deadpool 3 to come out because all I want to do is give interviews alongside Ryan where we talk about our reverence for the movie Logan. Logan is canon. We love Logan. That happened. I want the world to know, as the producer and director, all of us share a deep love and respect for Logan, every aspect of how it’s crafted, and all the events that take place.”

It going to be interesting to see what Levy and the creative team have come up with for this movie. There was a recent rumor regarding the story for Deadpool 3 that Wolverine's story arc would be one of the main elements in the film. Spoilers ahead for those of you who don’t want to know any possible details:

According to the report: "Deadpool 3 is about the TVA picking up the PRIME versions of each hero to create a multiversal army to fight the Kangs. And they picked Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to recruit but he's not fully on board. This is what the movie is about.”

Deadpool 3 is sure to put an interesting spin on things. Levy also talked about the film’s title saying: “No, there’s no title yet. I sometimes refer to it as Deadpool vs Wolverine or Deadpool and Wolverine or Deadpool 3 With Wolvie — we’ve got a few titles we’ve been bandying about, but boy, it’s a tough one.”
