DEADPOOL 3 Director Talks Wolverine's Costume: "I Was Going to Make Goddamned Sure We Get the Old Yellow and Blue"

When that photo from the set of Deadpool 3 surfaced featuring Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine wearing his classic yellow and blue costume, fans got insanely excited about what this movie was going to give us. We’ve been waiting for years to see Jackman in that classic Wolverine costume, but after he “retired” from the character after Logan, those dreams were dashed.

But now, here we are, and in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly director Shawn Levy talked about Wolverine’s costume, saying that he wasn’t going to miss out on the opportunity to bring the costume into the film. He said:

"Like the rest of the world, I've waited two decades to see Wolverine in a whole movie with Deadpool, and I don't know if this is our last shot at Wolverine on screen, so I was going to make goddamned sure we get the old yellow and blue just once, and that we get it right.”

It also seems like he’s making damn sure not to miss the opportunity to bring in a ton of X-Men cameos either! The casting reports for Deadpool 3 have been pretty wild. While I don’t expect to see all of these characters show up, it’d be pretty wild if half of them do.

The characters that have been rumored for the film include Brian Cox as William Striker, Halle Berry as Storm, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Famke Jensen as Jean Grey, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, Taylor Swift as Dazzler, Taron Edgerton as a different Wolverine, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Dafne Keen as Laura Howlett aka X23, Rebecca Romijn as Raven, Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom, Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magneto, Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth.

Jennifer Garner is confirmed to return as Elektra in the movie and James Marsden may be returning to play Cyclops. It was also previously reported that Deadpool 3 will feature more than two variants of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and two variants of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

A previous report said that Deadpool 3 is “basically the No Way Home of the Fox X-Men universe,” and that “we’re going to get a LOT of character justice in Deadpool 3,” and it came with a photo of the X-Men team from X2: X-Men United.

The movie is being directed by Shawn Levy, and the movie also stars Emma Corrin as the villain, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio.
