DEADPOOL 3 Director Shawn Levy Says That Some of the Casting Rumors Are True
There have been a ton of crazy casting rumors spreading online regarding Marvel’s Deadpool 3. Some of these rumors come from websites that are just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. But, according to director Shawn Levy, some of the casting rumors that have been reported are actually true. While a guest on SiriusXM's Jess Cagle Show, the filmmaker talked about the cast rumors, saying:
"I love the proliferation of casting rumors on the internet, because I never have to say what's real and what's fantasy, so I'm just going to go with the very cliche 'no comment' on all things casting [with] Deadpool 3. I will say, we're lucky on this one. There's certainly -- is this an answer? A lot of the internet rumors are completely false, but some of them aren't."
He’s obviously not going to reveal which of the rumors are true, but my educated guess is that the earlier casting rumors that came from reliable sources are the true ones. The ones I think might be true include Halle Berry as Storm, Famke Jensen as Jean Grey, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and James Marsden as Cyclops. Then, of course, there’s Taylor Swift who will show up as someone that’s not Dazzler.
Some of the other rumored casting includes Brian Cox as William Striker, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Taron Edgerton as a different Wolverine, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Dafne Keen as X-23, Rebecca Romijn as Raven, Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom, Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth, Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
We already knew that some of the casting rumors were true thanks to previous comments made by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, who said: “I’ve been very fortunate people put stuff in front of me. And trust me, all I’m saying is, I saw that cast list. I think people are just going to freakin’ get blown away, and I’m not saying shit more than what I just said.”
We’ll just have to wait and see what casting rumors end up being true! The confirmed cast includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Emma Corrin as the villain, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.
Levy also said in this recent interview that the film was going to be an "R-rated blood bath." So, that’s something else to look forward to!
