DEADPOOL 3 Shuts Down Production Due to Actors Strike, So No More Set Photos
Over the past week, Marvel fans have been enjoying all the photos and videos that have come from the set of Deadpool 3. The hype has been building as we’ve seen Wolverine in his classic yellow costume and watching Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool battling Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. These are things we’ve been waiting to see for years!
One day we will see it all play out on the big screen, but as of right now, the Deadpool 3 production has officially shut down due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. That means we won’t be seeing any new photos from the set anytime soon.
Production will resume when the strike ends, but that will most likely be several months from now. It sounds like SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers are so far apart on terms that it’s going to be awhile before they find some common ground to work on.
Deadpool 3 is one of many big productions in TV and film that are being shut down. The SAG-AFTRA strike is will put an indefinite pause on Hollywood across the board. Per the strike's stipulations, actors are not allowed to work in just about any capacity. This includes filming and promoting projects.
"[On Wednesday], our union celebrated the 90th anniversary of the incorporation of Screen Actors Guild. During our nearly century long existence we've fought for and achieved countless gains for working actors. Today, we embark on a new important chapter in our unions history. Earlier this morning, the SAG-AFTRA national board convened following four weeks of negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television producers in a meeting, because AMPTP remains unwilling to offer a fair deal on key issues essential to protecting the livelihoods of working actors and performers. SAG AFTRA as national board unanimously voted to issue a strike order against the studios and streamers."
It’s pretty crazy that both the writers and actors are now on strike. This hasn’t happened since the ‘60s and Hollywood is now completely shut down. Hopefully, everyone will be able to work out their issues and come to some kind of compromise sooner rather than later, because there are a lot of other hard-working people in the industry not involved with those unions that are going to be losing out on work and money.
It was recently confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie and there are reports that several other X-Men characters could appear such as Halle Berry as Storm, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, and James Marsden returning to play Cyclops! There are also reports that Ben Affleck will be showing up in the movie as Daredevil and Channing Tatum appearing as Gambit. It was also previously reported that Deadpool 3 will feature more than two variants of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and two variants of Wolverine.
The movie is being directed by Shawn Levy, and the movie also stars Emma Corrin as the villain, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio.
Deadpool 3 is currently slated to open in theaters on May 3, 2024.
