ETERNALS 2 Is Reportedly Being "Transformed" Into Another Project at Marvel Studios
A new report has surfaced regarding the status of Marvel Studios’ Eternals 2. Over the past year, there have been reports that the sequel has been in development and as you know, right now, Marvel is making a lot of behind-the-scenes changes and overhauling some of their projects. One of those projects is Eternals 2.
According to Hollywood insider @MyTimeToShineH, the sequel isn't necessarily happening in its original form, instead, it's being "transformed" into something else. No other details are given as to what the project is being transformed into.
I assume the Eternal characters will still be involved, but maybe the heroes will be joined by a much bigger and more popular character. Perhaps they will be joined by Thor or the Guardians of the Galaxy? Maybe the Eternals will become more of a supporting character in another movie? These are just guesses.
It was previously reported that Richard Madden might return as Ikaris in the next chapter of the story. In the first film, the character was the team’s leader before he was revealed as the Eternals' true villain. After coming to the realization that he couldn't kill more of his fellow immortals. Ikaris left Earth and appeared to end his life by flying into the sun. But, maybe he survived? If this rumor was true, it may not be true anymore.
It was also reported that there were several trademark filings by Marvel Studios. Among them was Celestials: End of Time, suggesting it could be tied to the wider Multiverse Saga and time travel.
We’ll just have to wait to see how this all plays out, but after how the first Eternals movie was received, it makes sense that Marvel would want to make some major changes for these characters.
