First Look at Ron Howard’s Survival Thriller EDEN Starring Jude Law, Sydney Sweeney, and Ana De Armas
Some first-look photos have been released for Ron Howard’s upcoming survival thriller film Eden, which stars Jude Law, Ana De Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney, and Daniel Brühl.
The movie is based on “an unsolved mystery that unfolded on a remote island in the Galapagos, the movie charts the lengths humans will go in pursuit of happiness.”
It’s inspired by two different accounts of the same true story, and the film is described as “a darkly comic tale of murder and survival, set around a group of eclectic characters who abandon civilization for the Galapagos.
They are all searching for the answer to that ever-pressing question that plagues us all: what is the meaning of life.”
The movie is set in the 1930s, and investigates “a near-century-old mystery by plopping a bunch of decorated actors on an uninhabited island and seeing what happens.”
Howard has been wanting to tell the story for 15 years. He was inspired to make it after he first visited the Galapagos Island where the real-life events took place. The film will explore “the human condition in ways that are unexpected, absurd, humorous, sexy, but above all thrilling and deeply suspenseful.”
The director told Vanity Fair: “What was chilling about this story is that a handful of people went there and half of them either died or vanished—and that’s intense. That’s like a season of ‘Survivor’ where people really don’t make it.”
