THE GREEN KNIGHT Director David Lowery Helmed Episode of STAR WARS: SKELETON CREW
David Lowery, the director of The Green Knight, Pete’s Dragon, and Peter Pan & Wendy, is confirmed to have directed an episode of Lucasfilm’s new series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. This seems like a Star Wars project that would be right up his alley.
The series is developed by Spider-Man franchise director Jon Watts, and Everything Everywhere all at Once directors Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan also directed at least one episode.
The series has been described as ”a galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.” The story will follow four young kids from a tiny little planet, and they end up getting lost in the Star Wars galaxy and embark on a journey to find their way back home.
The film was pitched to Lucasfilm as “Goonies in Star Wars," and it’s been explained that while the series stars four kids, “it's not a kid’s show." The adventure that they find themselves on is said to be an intense and dark journey.
Jude Law stars in the series, and it’s been reported that his character is “a teacher and the show is like a field trip into and out of the known Star Wars Universe.” The project is also set in the same universe at The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. You can read more details on the series here. Lowery previously worked with Law on Peter Pan & Wendy, with Law playing Captain Hook.
Skeleton Crew wrapped production recently and is currently in the post-production process.
