Hayao Miyazaki is Already Working on a New Film Project - "In Life, Only Work Enchants Him"

While Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron has been marketed as Hayao Miyazaki’s final film, that’s not actually the cast. Miyazaki has already made it clear that he’s not retiring and now he’s got a new project that he’s started to work on.

Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki recently shared this information with the French newspaper Libération, saying that he’s given up on trying to stop Miyazaki from making another movie:

"He thinks about this new project every day, I can no longer stop him, I have given up on that. I’m no longer trying to dissuade him, even if it might be a bad film. In life, only work enchants him.”

We went on to say:

"We spoke again earlier today. He started talking about this new project, so I'm not stopping him anymore. As long as he works I will not retire. He is 82 years old, I think he will continue until he is 90 years old and I’ll be going along with him for the ride."

You know, if working on these films makes Miyazaki happy, then that’s awesome! Hell, Clint Eastwood is still making movies and he’s 93! I love that Miyazaki is so passionate about his work and about making these beautiful animated films. It’ll be interesting to see what his next project will end up being.
