James Gunn Addresses GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Trilogy Director’s Cut
Now that James Gunn has completed his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, some Marvel fans have been wondering if we will ever see a directors cut of the film trilogy, something like what Peter Jackson did with the Extended Edition of The Lord of The Rings trilogy.
One fan reached out to the filmmaker on Twitter to ask if there would ever be a Director’s Cut of the film, and in response, Gunn revealed that it already exists, as the trilogy as it currently exists is the Director’s Cut.
The Director’s replay was, "Yes (the trilogy as is is the Director's Cut)."
So, Gunn is 100% happy with how these films currently stand, and there is nothing that he would change about them. I love that he got to make these films exactly the way he wanted. This really is an incredible trilogy of films and is easily one of the best trilogies that has been made.
I’m sad that Gunn is done playing with these wonderful characters, and it’s going to be interesting to see what Marvel does with them next, and who they hire to step into the writing and director chair. Chances are whatever comes next won’t be anywhere near as good as what Gunn created. Good luck to anyone who tries!
In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin/on-set Rocket, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, and Vin Diesel as Groot. New additions to the cast also include Will Poulter as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary as well as Daniela Melchior, Nico Santos, and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm's Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog.
If you haven’t watched it yet, you should!
