James Gunn Adds Christopher Reeve's Son Will Reeve to the Cast of SUPERMAN in Cameo Role
Director James Gunn has merged a bit of historical Superman magic with his upcoming film, as he has added the beloved late actor Christopher Reeve’s son, Will Reeve, to the cast of his movie in a cameo role.
According to local reporting out of Cleveland, where production is currently in motion, the younger Reeve will reportedly be playing a TV reporter, which is fitting given his real-world work as a correspondent for ABC News.
Reeve’s father Christopher is indelibly linked to the Superman franchise, having become the definitive portrayal of the iconic superhero for an entire generation. His relationship with the franchise began in 1978, when he was cast as the titular character in Richard Donner’s Superman: The Movie, and he went on to don the cape in three sequels between 1980 and 1987: Superman II, Superman III, and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
The new film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman; Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane; Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor; Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern; Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific; Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen; María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampaio, as Eve Teschmacher; and Terence Rosemore as Otis.
Superman will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
