James Gunn Reveals He's Writing an Unannounced DC Series for DC Studios
With all of the work that James Gunn has on his plate right now with running DC Studios, writing a new Superman movie, and various other projects we don’t know about, I don’t see where he finds the time to continue to spend more time on social media. But, he does.
In a recent update from the filmmaker, he talked about what he accomplished in a busy day and it included writing a script for an unannounced DC series project:
"My day: wrote 1/3 of an unannounced DC TV show; ok’d 100 VFX shots, did reference acting for Rocket, & gave editing notes for [Guardians of the Galaxy] Vol 3; & had two big DC Studios meetings.”
One can only guess and speculate about what that DC series project is. We already know that he’s developing a second season of Peacemaker, and he also has previously teased two other projects and said one of them was connected to the Suicide Squad universe: "We're working on something else now, another TV show that's connected to that universe."
So, whatever he’s writing now, could be one of these projects. Or, maybe since he took over DC Studios, those projects were scrapped and he’s working on something completely different. When talking about taking on this new job, Gunn said:
"The opportunity to make DC as great as it can be and as it should be – that is the reason why I'm doing this job because I know that Peter and I can do that. We spent the past couple days with a group of some of the best thinkers in the industry, the best writers in the industry starting to map out that eight to 10 year plan of what it’s going to look like in theater, in TV, in animation, across the board for these characters."
While we can all speculate what it could be, what kind of DC series would you like it to be!?
