James Gunn Says SUPERMAN Star David Corenswet is Going To "Freak Everyone Out with How Great He Is"
James Gunn is once again hyping up his Superman star David Corenswet. After saying the actor is going to “blow people the f*ck away”, the filmmaker is new saying he’s going to “freak everyone out with how good he is in the role.”
While talking with The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn said: "Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, David Corenswet is going to freak everyone out with how great he is. He is one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with, and he can do everything. The man is incredible."
Well, I hope for his sake that the hype is real! He just raising expectations of the fans by saying this stuff, and I hope that Corenswet delivers an awesome performance as Superman.
The last movie I saw him in was Twisters, and he was pretty dull in that. I imagine that Gunn was able to harness the actor’s real talent when bringing Clark Kent/Superman to life.
Frank Grillo has also praised the new Man of Steel actor, saying: “By the way, this kid, David [Corenswet], is going to be a superstar. A superstar. He’s amazing, as is the rest of the cast in the film, and just James’ take on it. I think it’s gonna be the movie.”
Gunn also revealed that test screenings have begun for Superman, but didn’t share how those were going.
Superman will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas.
“He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
"It's set in a world very different from ours and far removed from the DCEU. Heroes have been around for ages, and we'll see how it affected this world's history and has shaped the DCU."
Superman stars Rachel Brosnahan bring to Superman and Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor; Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern; Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific; Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen; María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampaio, as Eve Teschmacher; and Terence Rosemore as Otis.
Superman will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
