James Gunn’s Search for Superman Now Includes BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL Star Pierson Fodé
As you know, director James Gunn has been looking for an actor to take on the role of Clark Kent aka Superman in his next film Superman: Legacy. The top choice on the list is David Corenswet (Pearl, Hollywood and The Politician), along with Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth) and Andrew Richardson (Daughter of the Bride).
Variety is now reporting that another actor is possibly up for the role. That actor is former The Bold and the Beautiful star Pierson Fodé. The report says that “Fodé sent in a self-tape, which included a montage of footage showing his very Clark Kent-like childhood on a farm in the small town of Moses Lake, Wash. I’m told Gunn liked what he saw.”
This isn’t his first run-in with DC, as Fodé previously appeared in a 2020 episode of Supergirl. He looks like an actor that could take on the role, but I have no idea if he’s a good actor or not. That’s up to Gunn to decide.
Gunn previously offered some insight into the qualities that he’s looking for in an actor to play Superman: "It's hard, but we're looking, and we actually have some really great choices, which I'm excited about. But it has to be somebody who has all of the humanity that Superman has, but he's also an alien. It's gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has. And it has to be somebody that you want to give a hug."
It was also already reported that Rachel Brosnahan, of Amazon’s acclaimed The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, is up for the role of Lois Lane. I really like that casting, but other actresses in the running include Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton), and Emma Mackey (Sex Education).
Nicholas Hoult (Renfeild) is also up for the role of classic DC villain Lex Luthor. It’s explained that “Hoult’s name has been swirling around Legacy for several weeks now with some theorizing he was up for Superman.”
The movie will introduce a new version of Superman, and it will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1, and that will be followed by The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl, Swamp Thing, and more.
We’ll just have to wait and see how all of this shakes out. In the meantime, what do you think about Pierson Fodé possibly playing Superman?
