James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley Cast as He-Man's Parents in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE
James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley have been cast as He-Man’s parents, King Randor and Queen Marlena, in Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films’ live-action Masters of the Universe.
Travis Knight is directing the film and it also stars Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops.
Morena Baccarin (Deadpool) was also recently cast in the role of The Sorceress and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Captain America: Brave New World) has been cast as Fisto.
The film is said to the film introduces Adam as an ordinary man, working "a boring office job" in the “real world.” The Masters of the Universe stories are merely tales Adam heard as a little kid.
The synopsis reads: “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia.
“After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.
“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
The script was was written by Chris Butler (ParaNorman), and it builds on an earlier draft by David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and DeVon Franklin are producing.
Amazon MGM Studios will released the film in theaters on June 5, 2026.
