Jared Leto Reportedly Offered Role of Skeletor in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Movie
As the Masters of the Universe casting continues a report has surfaced that Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049, Suicide Squad) has been offered the role of Skeletor in Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films live-action movie.
The news comes from reliable Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider, and it’s not hard to see why the studios would want to cast him in the role. But, I think there are better choices out there.
If Leto accepts the offer, he will join Nicholas Galitzine (Purple Hearts, Red, White & Royal Blue, The Idea of You) as Prince Adam/He-Man, Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as his right-hand woman Teela, and the recently-cast Alison Brie (GLOW, Community) as Skeletor's second-in-command, Evil-Lyn.
I really hope that director Travis Knight knows what he’s doing with this movie. Knight, who previously directed films such as Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings, is directing from a script written by Chris Butler. David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee worked on the initial draft.
In Masters of the Universe, “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia.
“After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.
“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
Masters of the Universe is being produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films for release exclusively in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.
What do you think about Leto possibly taking on the role of Skeletor in Masters of the Universe? He will next appear in the Disney movie TRON: Ares.
