Jason Momoa Says His Aquaman Future Is "Not Looking Good" but Here Are Two Action-Packed Clips From AQUAMAN 2
It’s safe to say that James Wan and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman franchise will be coming to an end with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Momoa previously confirmed that this movie is “the end” of the DC film series, so his most recent comments about his future as Aquaman shouldn’t come as a surprise.
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Momoa said that he doesn’t want his time as Aquaman to end, but his future in this franchise is “not looking good.” He shared:
“I don’t necessarily want it to be the end . . . [but] I don’t think it’s really, like, a choice. The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves it, then there’s a possibility. But right now, I’m like, ‘It’s not looking too good.'”
Momoa went on to say that he loves the character and wants to continue to play him for a long time:
“I love this character and [I would want to] play it for a long time. I kind of see where I would want it to go. And even in the next 10 years or so, like there’s a lot of cool things they can do. And I do enjoy the role and the world. So, I mean, it just comes down to if people love it.”
I think it’s safe to say that this is the last time that we’ll see Momoa as Aquaman. He’s got other things brewing over at DC Studios such as Lobo, and I think fans are a lot more excited about that than more Aquaman movies.
Anyway, I also included a couple of action-packed clips for the Aquaman sequel that you can watch below! One of them sees Aquaman fighting Black Manta. Check them out!
In the Aquaman sequel, “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all,” the official Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom synopsis reads. “This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
Jason Momoa stars as Aquaman in the movie and he’s joined by Patrick Wilson as Orm, Amber Heard as Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
Warner Bros. will release the film in theaters on December 20th.
