Jason Ritter Joins the Cast of YELLOWJACKETS Season 2

Jason Ritter will be joining his wife Melanie Lynskey in the upcoming second season of Showtime’s hit series Yellowjackets. He will guest star in one episode of the new season.

Ritter joins the previously cast Juliette Lewis (Camping), Christiana Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything) and Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable), Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, Servant), Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings) in a season-long guest arc as a a citizen detective named Walter.

Earlier this year, Ritter also appeared alongside his wife on Peacock’s Candy. When talking about working with her husband, Lynskey said:

“He’s such a wonderful actor and a really nice person. When I came back to work, everyone was like, ‘Your husband is the nicest person!’ It makes me look smart, like I chose a great partner. He’s so good, and it’s really fun to get to work with somebody who is creative and interesting and does something different every take, which is what he does. He’s also so good at improv. It’s hard though because we try to support each other when the other one’s working. If we both were working on something full time, that would be tough. I already feel like our nanny is working so hard when I’m at work!”

Yellowjackets was created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos). The series follows a talented high school girls' soccer team who survive a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The story “chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”

The series also stars Tawny Cypress, Ella Purnell, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sammi Hanratty, Steven Krueger, and Warren Kole.

When previously talking about Season 2, Ricci teased that it’s "more crazy, more shocking, and really compelling and fun." She went on to say: "I can't really get too much into detail, but I will say the first couple scripts had the entire cast gasping. So it's even wilder."

Yellowjackets is set to premiere on March 24th, 2023.
