Jon Bernthal Joins the Cast of Christopher Nolan's Star-Studded THE ODYSSEY
Jon Bernthal (The Punisher, The Walking Dead) has been added to the star-studded lineup that makes up Christopher Nolan’s (Inception, Oppenheimer) upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey.
He joins previously announced cast members Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron.
Last month, Universal revealed that Nolan’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning Oppenheimer would be an adaptation of the epic poem composed by Homer around the 8th century BCE.
The ancient Greek poem is one of the foundational texts of Western literature. It tells the story of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his perilous journey home after the Trojan War, exploring themes of heroism, loyalty, cunning and the struggle against divine will.
The tale includes iconic stories like Odysseus’ encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens and the witch-goddess Circe, culminating in a reunion with his wife Penelope.
The Odyssey is expected to start shooting next month and is set to hit theaters on July 17, 2026.
