Justin Lin Reportedly Being Eyed to Direct SPIDER-MAN 4

The hunt is on for a director to take on Spider-Man 4. Jon Watts is not returning to direct the next film, and it was previously rumored that Marvel wanted Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods) and (Bad Times at the El Royale) to helm the film. Now, according to insider Jeff Sneider, Fast and Furious franchise director Justin Lin is being eyed to direct. Lin is a finalist or just one of many currently in the running for the directing gig.

The report also says that both Tom Holland and Zendaya will return to their roles of Peter Parker and MJ, respectively, which isn’t at all surprising. Of course, they are! It's said Zendaya has Spider-Man 4 up as her next project, pushing production on Euphoria Season 3 back even more.

Spider-Man 4 is expected to start filming later this year, in either September or October. Lin is an interesting choice to jump in on the Spider-Man franchise. If he ends up in the director’s chair, will Spider-Man 4 be the Fast and Furious of Spider-Man movies? Outside of Fast and Furious, he directed Star Trek Beyond, Better Luck Tomorrow, and some TV shows.

Holland has previously expressed conflicting feelings about returning to play Spider-Man saying that they needed to come up with a great story that made sense for him to return, and they obviously settled on the direction they are going to take the story next. He said:

"All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character. Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing. I feel very protective over Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won't make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character."

Spider-Man 4 has yet to land a release date from Sony. What are your thoughts on Justin Lin possibly coming in to direct the movie?
