Karen Gillan Says Now Is The Right Time For An All-Female Marvel Movie
If there was ever a time to make an all-female Marvel movie, Karen Gillan says it's now. The star of Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle told CBM she's not the only actress tied to the universe that thinks so, and recounts the story of when she teamed up with a group of them to confront Kevin Feige to make one:
"Brie Larson was like, ‘We should go up to Kevin Feige and tell him to make an all-female Marvel movie,’ so we marched up there in a group, a whole herd of us, and said that to him. He was like, ‘Yeah, that would be amazing!’ but he didn’t really commit to it, but he thought it would be a great idea. Look at the success of Wonder Woman. It’s clear we all want that."
Of course, it's not all that surprising that Marvel would be down for the idea, although one has to wonder how they would make it happen exactly. Kevin Feige has said that it's a possibility. If the movie does happen, one of the best options would be to focus on Lady Liberators, which is an all-female team in the comics with characters that have included Valkyrie, Wasp, Black Widow and Scarlet Witch. There are more characters that include She-Hulk, Storm, Tigra, Hellcat, Spider-Woman and more.
The women of Marvel recently gathered together for a photo shoot, and it certainly got fans excited for what an all-female Marvel movie would look like. That group included Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Danai Gurira (Okoye), and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie).
Anyone have any other ideas for an all-female Marvel film? I'm all ears!
