Karen Gillan Wants To Play Poison Ivy in James Gunn's DC Cinematic Universe
As Karen Gillan’s time as Nebula in the MCU may be coming to an end with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, she is ready to follow James Gunn over to DC Studios, and she has a character in mind that she’d like to play in the DC Cinematic Universe… Poison Ivy! She revealed this bit of information in an interview with Total Film, saying:
"I always thought that Poison Ivy was really fun. So maybe something like that would be cool. Honestly, if James asked me to play an alien that sits in the background of a shot and doesn’t talk, I would say yes [laughs]. Because working with him has been one of the great joys of my career so far."
I would actually love to see Gillan play Poison Ivy alongside Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in the DCU! Robbie has been pushing hard to get Poison Ivy in the DCU for years! With James Gunn now in charge, there’s a good chance that will eventually happen, and it completely makes sense to cast Gillan in the role!
Gillan goes on to say that the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is the "gift that keeps on giving," because she didn't think she would be playing Nebula as long as she has:
"I was under the impression I was signing up for eight days of filming on the first film. And then it just gradually kept getting extended. And here we are, nine or 10 years later."
As for her future as Nebula, Gillan said: "I just genuinely love this character so much, and I feel like there’s just an endless amount of things that could be done with her. So, yeah, I would obviously love to explore more, but I don’t know if that’s going to happen. I’m waiting to see just as much as everyone else [laughs]."
Would you like to see Gillan take on the role of Poison Ivy in the DCU?
