Kevin Feige Teases DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Crossing Over with Other MCU Films
When we saw a photo from Deadpool & Wolverine of Deadpool with a TemPad, we knew for a fact that this movie was going to be a wild multiverse adventure and that Deadpool would be using it to open Time Doors to traverse the timeline.
There are so many wild opportunities here to play with and Marvel Studios’ boss Kevin Feige recently described the film as "many dreams coming true at once.”
He added: "[Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman] developed a friendship in real life, and this fun kind of social media rivalry, so it's fun seeing them together in a movie. It's gonna be amazing.”
Feige went on to talk about Deadpool and Wolverine interacting with characters from the Loki series and teased even more characters.
He said: "Seeing them interact with TVA agents, and people familiar with that organization from Loki season 1 and season 2 is a thrill. The combination of all those different worlds and all those different flavors, and perhaps even a few more that people won't know about until they see the movie, is a thrill.
"It's very exciting how we can continue with the same actors in new incarnations, which is great, and I think is a peek into the future as we continue to bring these comic book stories to life.”
A previously released story description reads: "Not only will [Deadpool and Wolverine] be working to defeat a range of villains plaguing the Marvel universe, bub, but they’ll be gate-crashing the MCU franchise, too, and putting their own R-rated, 20th Century Fox-styled twist on some of our favorite moments from Phases 1-4!"
Feige also assured fans that the movie is "just as gory, and just as foul-mouthed, and just as R-rated as you would expect" and added that it’s also "extremely endearing and emotional.”
There are so many characters and actors that have been rumored to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. Some of those rumors are true, but there are also characters who have been mentioned that won’t show up.
It’s going to be a fun experience to watch this movie and see how this story plays out. With Deadpool revisiting the first four phases of the film, there’s a chance we could see him interact with with original Avengers team including Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Chris Evans’ Captain America.
Shawn Levy is directing the movie and the confirmed cast includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen as a TVA Agent, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.
They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna, who will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.
Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26th!
