Marvel Confirms the Fantastic Four Will Play "Key Roles" in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY

For those of us who’ve been closely following Marvel’s cinematic breadcrumbs, this news doesn’t come as a surprise, it just makes it official.

A few months back, we reported that Avengers: Doomsday would heavily feature the Fantastic Four, putting Marvel’s First Family at the heart of the action.

Some readers were skeptical, wondering why the Fantastic Four would be headlining an Avengers film. But, come on, once Doctor Doom entered the picture, this felt inevitable.

Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom have one of the most complex rivalries in the Marvel universe. It’s not just about hero vs. villain, it’s intellect vs. ego, science vs. sorcery, and an endless battle of philosophies. If Doom is going to be your big bad, then the Fantastic Four are essential.

Now Marvel has removed any lingering doubt with a new press release that makes it crystal clear:

“Cast members from Marvel Studios' next two films — Thunderbolts*, which kicks off the summer May 2, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25 — will play key roles in Avengers: Doomsday.

“Key roles.” Not quick cameos, they’re deep in the thick of it.

Just last week, we got a fresh trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps, and the response online has been largely positive. The trailer gave us our first proper look at Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer and Pedro Pascal stretching into full Mister Fantastic mode.

We saw more of the family dynamic, a teasing terrifying glimpse of Galactus, and some of the city-leveling stakes that await. And with Victor Von Doom looming large over this film and the next, it’s clear Marvel isn’t treating the Fantastic Four as side players.
