Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige Allowed James Gunn To Kill off Any Characters in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3
Marvel fans are in for quite an emotional ride with director James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. There’s a lot that happens in this movie, but it’s a perfect conclusion to the story that Gunn set out to tell.
A lot of fans are wondering what characters die in the film, and while I’m not going to spoil that for you, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that he allowed Gunn to kill off whatever characters he wanted in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
When asked how much slack he was given to lead the characters in places that might impact the future of the MCU, Feige responded, saying, "I think he gets all the slack.” Gunn added, "Especially on this one."
Nathan Fillion, who was hosting the panel, then asked, "You don’t get nervous he wants to kill people off?" Feige jumped in to answer that question, saying:
"On previous movies we had some discussions about that. But not on this one. And this one really was about seeing it through. Because it always was designed as a trilogy capper."
Feige pretty much put all of his trust in Gunn that he would do what was right for these characters and after having seen the movie for myself, I was happy ith how the characters were handled and how their story arcs closed out in this trilogy. I’m excited for all of you to get to see the movie! It comes out this week and I’ve already got my tickets to watch it again! This time… I’m taking the family!
In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin/on-set Rocket, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, and Vin Diesel as Groot. New additions to the cast also include Will Poulter as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary as well as Daniela Melchior, Nico Santos, and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm's Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog.
Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 opens in U.S. theaters on May 5.
