Marvel Studios Reportedly Moving Away From Kang The Conqueror Story Arc

I think we all knew where things were headed at Marvel in relation to Kang The Conquerer after the shit hit the fan with Jonathan Majors. They haven’t really been talking about it, but according to “MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios” co-author Joanna Robinson, Marvel Studios is actually moving away from the Kang The Conqueror story arc in the MCU.

Robinson revealed this information on a recent episode of the House of R podcast, and she confirmed the previous report that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness is no longer involved with writing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which is one of two big Avengers movies that The Multiverse Saga was leading to. She explained:

“I heard from someone recently…the screenwriter Jeff Loveness, who wrote Quantumania, was supposed to write The Kang Dynasty…anyway, it’s confirmed.

“I had it confirmed to me he’s no longer working for Marvel. I asked the person why, and they said the reason why is he was all wrapped up in this Kang storyline and they are likely going to be moving away from that.”

It makes sense that Marvel would move away from Kang and change the trajectory of the story after everything that’s been happening with Majors. There’s no way they’re bringing him back to play this character again.

During a previous interview with Loki director Dan DeLeeuw, he explained that we haven’t seen what he considers to be the "definitive" version of Kang yet. He said: "I love all the Kangs, I think Kang's a great character. I don't know that we've seen the definitive Kang yet, in terms of what I would envision the definitive Kang [to be]. I think there's still someone yet to come out of the shadows.”

If these reports are all true, then it seems like we won’t ever get to see that definitive version of Kang. But, another big villain will replace him, we just don’t know who that villain will be.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is still scheduled to come out in 2026, but if things are changing in the story and Kang won’t be involved anymore, we can expect that title to change along with the story.
