New Details Emerge Regarding Possible Doctor Doom Plans in the MCU Leading to AVENGERS: SECRET WARS
It was recently reported that Marvel Studios considered replacing Jonathan Majors’ Kang The Conqueror with Doctor Doom in the MCU. With a lot of fans talking about that, industry insider Jeff Sneider recently offered some insights suggesting that Doom will simply be one of several villains set to appear in the Multiverse Saga's final Avengers movie. Avengers: Secret Wars. He explained on The Hot Mic podcast:
"I still believe that Doctor Doom will be introduced in the post-credits sequence of Fantastic Four. [The strike] could affect that potentially. That movie is due two years before Secret Wars and it just seems like if you're going to introduce him in 2025...maybe that's where the semantics thing is...he's not the villain, he's a villain. There are multiple villains in Secret Wars. It's inaccurate to say he's THE villain."
That makes sense. I think it’s safe to say that Doom is definitely going to show up in the MCU. I mean, you can’t tell a proper Fantastic Four story without Doom. While the character very well could be built up to be the big bad villain of The Multiverse Saga, I’m not convinced if that is the direction Marvel is going to take things even though it was considered.
Avengers: Secret Wars will close out The Multiverse Saga in the same way that Avengers: Endgame wrapped up the Infinity Saga, and fans are expecting it to be one of the biggest MCU movies ever made, with a lot of returning fan-favorite Marvel characters.
Secret Wars was Marvel Comics’ first big crossover event series, and it made its debut in 1984. The story centered on Marvel’s greatest heroes and villains being transported to Battleworld thanks to a powerful being known as the Beyonder. It’s on Battleworld where the heroes and villains could decide once and for all whether good or evil was the greater force.
I’m curious to see how the MCU film version of the story turns out, but we’ve got a long way to go.
