Marvel's DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Hires DEXTER Director Michael Cuesta
Marvel Studios has hired Dexter and Homeland director Michael Cuesta to helm the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again. Production on the 18-episode series is set to start production later this month in New York City.
Charlie Cox is set to reprise his role as Matt Murdoch, aka Daredevil, in the series, and he’ll be joined by Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher. Other actors who have been cast in the series include Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, and Sandrine Holt, who will play Vanessa Fisk, the wife of Fisk. Michael Gaston (Chicago P.D., Mayor of Kingstown) is also in the show.
The series is being written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, and it’s expected to be released in the spring of 2024. Cuesta is only directing the opening episode, and other directors are being lined up to helm the other blocks of episodes.
There are no details on what the story for the series will tell, but fans are extremely curious. During a previous interview, Charlie Cox offered some insight on what we can expect from his character saying: "I don't think it's a different character. I just think it's maybe a different period of his life. I don't think my interpretation will change -- they hired the same actor. We're saying this is a whole new… era, or variant? I haven't read the scripts, so I don't know. But like, it's part of the multiverse?"
Cox also previously shared that the series will be “a whole new thing” saying: “I think that the sense is it is a new beginning, it is going to be different, it is going to be totally different. It is going to be new stories, and new ideas. It is a Season 1, it is not Season 4, so it is a whole new thing. Which I think is the way to go. If you are going to do it again, do it differently.”
What story do you hope to see this series tell?
