Mary Elizabeth Winstead Teases Hera’s Bigger Role in AHSOKA Season 2
The next chapter of Ahsoka is coming in strong, and it sounds like Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Hera Syndulla will be stepping into the action in a bigger way. During an interview with Collider, Winstead dropped an exciting tease about what’s ahead for her Star Wars hero.
“You know, I'm not sure what I can say, other than I'm in this season a bit more, which is fun. I'm definitely in on the action, as you say, quite a bit more, which was great to have a Hera really, kind of like, you know, getting some stuff done.
“So yeah, I honestly, I'm not gonna say much more than that, just because I've not [been] given my guidelines yet. So I'm gonna leave it at that. But it was so much fun.
“I just finished it, and it was an absolute blast. I loved every minute of it. So I can't wait for people to see it.”
It’s exciting to hear that Hera will have a decent sized role when Ahsoka returns to Disney+. I’m a big fan of the character, and after spending most of the first season coordinating efforts as a New Republic general, it sounds like she will be taking a more hands-on role this time around.
Production on Ahsoka Season 2 kicked off in the U.K. back in April 2025, and the cast has been steadily wrapping their work. Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who plays Sabine Wren, recently finished filming and shared a behind-the-scenes silhouette shot of herself alongside Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano.
Director Bryce Dallas Howard also revealed that she completed her two episodes, suggesting that the series is well into post-production. However, filming appears to still be active in some capacity, with Hayden Christensen’s recent convention cancellation hinting that Anakin Skywalker’s role may be larger than fans anticipated.
Season 1 ended with Ahsoka and Sabine stranded on Peridea, the mysterious world tied to the Mortis Gods, while Eman Esfandi’s Ezra Bridger made his long-awaited return to the New Republic.
Season 2 looks set to pick up right where things left off, diving deeper into Peridea’s lore, exploring the spiritual side of the Force, and tracking Thrawn’s growing threat to the galaxy.
Ahsoka Season 2 is sure to deliver bigger battles, deeper mythology, and a whole lot more Star Wars magic when it lands on Disney+ in 2026.
