Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN: PART II Release Date Pushed From 2026 to 2027

Warner Bros has made some release date changes for some of it’s upcoming big film projects including Matt ReevesThe Batman: Part II, which is getting pushed back a whole year.

The original release date was October 2, 2026, but it has been moved to October 1st, 2027. Production on the film hasn’t started and one of the most recent update we had from James Gunn a script for the film hasn’t even been turned in yet.

Reeves recently confirmed that, saying: “Yeah, we’re finishing the script. We’re going to be shooting next year.”

The Batman star Zoe Kravitz also praised Reeves for his meticulous approach, sharing: “You’re an incredibly meticulous filmmaker. I just asked you how it’s going with writing ['Part II'] and you said, 'Slow,' and I think that’s a wonderful quality, because you care so much.”

Reeves elaborated on the pace of his creative process, explaining: “The thing is that for me, I feel like it’s not a choice. I always feel like I would never do it the way I’m doing it, except that that’s the only way I know how to do it.”

He went on to describe writing and filmmaking as navigating a dark room. “Everything you need is in the room, but there are no lights, and you’re on hands and knees. And when something connects, you go, 'Oh, that’s something.'”

So, while we are going to have to wait longer to see The Batman: Part II in theaters, we know that it will be up to the high standards that the fans want from a Batman movie.

Taking over The Batman sequel’s place on October 2nd, 2026 is the Alejandro González Iñárritu directed untitled movie with Tom Cruise.

That film follows the most powerful man in the world who embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.

Bong Joon Ho and Robert Pattinson’s Mickey 17 has been moved to March 7th in Imax, while Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s Sinners will be released on April 18th with Imax screens as well. Those two films switched up release dates.
