Tom Holland's Spider-Man is Reportedly The Lead in AVENGERS: SECRET WARS; Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man Will Also Appear
A new report has surfaced with information regarding Marvel Studios’ upcoming epic Marvel movie, Avengers: Secret Wars. Most of us already assumed that Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man would show up in the movie, but according to insider, CanWeGetSomeToast, Holland’s Spider-Man will be the lead in the movie. He will be the main focus of the story, which is surprising.
Not only that, but the report also says that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man will appear in the film as well. There’s no word on how big of a role he’ll play, but it’s pointed out that he won’t be a lead. There was also a previous rumor that Andrew Garfield was approached.
Avengers: Secret Wars is still years away from being made and released, and if these rumors are true, there are a lot of changes to the story that could happen between now and the time that Marvel actually gets around to making the movie. This recent report certainly piqued my interest, though, and it’ll be interesting to see how the MCU version of this story is going to play out.
One thing we know for sure is that the epic MCU event film is going to feature a ton of Marvel characters!
Secret Wars was Marvel Comics’ first big crossover event series, and it made its debut in 1984. The Secret Wars story centered on Marvel’s greatest heroes and villains being transported to Battleworld thanks to a powerful being known as the Beyonder. It’s on Battleworld where the heroes and villains could decide once and for all whether good or evil was the greater force.
Marvel hired screenwriter Michael Waldron to write the script for the studio’s big, epic Phase 6 finale. He previously worked on the Marvel projects Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
