New EVIL DEAD Movie Director Shares His "Nasty" Vision for a "Film That Hurts"
Another Evil Dead movie is in development with producer Sam Raimi and French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček (Infested). We don’t know anything about the story, but the director recently shared his vision for the movie and he’s looking to make something brutal. He explained in an interview with Bloody-Disgusting:
“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested. I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”
Well, hell… it sounds like he’s going to make an Evil Dead film that is going to mess audiences up. The last one that was made was pretty damn insane. It seems like he’s looking to up the ante with the horror aspect, but I just hope that he and his creative team end up telling a fun story set in this nightmarish world.
He also says that Sam Raimi is giving him “100% creative freedom” to play in the Evil Dead sandbox, and that he’s looking to incorporate a “French twist.”
Vaniček goes on to note that, “If all goes well, we could start filming at the end of 2024-beginning of 2025, for a release that I hope for Halloween 2025.”
This is just one of several Evil Dead movies that will be made as Raimi and Bruce Campbell plan on producing a new Evil Dead movie every two to three years.
