Sam Raimi Reportedly in the Running to Direct Marvel's AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY and AVENGERS: SECRET WARS
We’ve got some more Marvel movie rumors to share with you today. The following information comes from Hollywood scooper Daniel Richtman, who has been on a roll lately with sharing accurate information.
Marvel’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty recently lost Destin Daniel Cretton as its director and Avengers: Secret Wars never had a director attached. Now, a few names have been shared for possible frontrunners to direct those films.
According to the report, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi is one of the directors in the running to helm both of the films. It’s also reported that Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the filmmaking duo behind Moon Knight, Loki season 2, and the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again are also up for the job.
Richtman also added that Fantastic Four, Shang-Chi 2, Spider-Man 4, and Deadpool 3 will all lay the groundwork for the big two Avengers movies.
It’s also said Thor 5, Eternals 2, Doctor Strange 3, and Black Panther 3 are all movies that are currently in various stages of development.
It looks like the plan will be to shoot The Kang Dynasty, if the movie is still titled that, and Secret Wars back-to-back with the same director like what Joss Whedon did with The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron and the Russo Brothers did with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Secret Wars.
If I had to choose between the directors mentioned in this recent report, I’d have to go with Raimi. He’s a much better and more seasoned director than the other two, and I’m just a fan of Raimi and his directing style. Who would you like to see come on board to direct these films?
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars to follow on May 7, 2027. But those release date might end up changing at some point.
