New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Photo and James Gunn Teases - "This Is the Big One"
Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have a new photo to share with you for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It offers a new look at Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana). Peter is really hoping to win the heart of Gamora in this next chapter of the story, but I think it’s a long shot for him. This is just a very different version of Gamora, and Peter can’t force her to fall in love with him.
Director James Gunn also talked about the film and how it is the final chapter of a trilogy. The filmmaker knows that trilogies don’t have the best track record with closing out a story, but he’s really hoping to break that trilogy curse with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn said:
"The amount of good third episodes in a trilogy, I can count them on one hand. Basically, there's the Before Sunrise series. Lord of the Rings. Maybe Spider-Man. But there's just not too many good third ones."
Gunn knew he had his work cut out for him when he started this project, but he was up for the task of bringing this story to an end. When teasing the final film, he said:
"This is the big one. This is where things really happen. This is where we get to know the truth about who these characters are, and we face the biggest stakes."
I think fans are going to be very surprised about what happens in this movie. In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 “our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 also stars Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin/on-set Rocket, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, and Vin Diesel as Groot. New additions to the cast also include Will Poulter as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary as well as Daniela Melchior, Nico Santos, and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm's Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog.
You can watch the trailer for the film here. The film is set to hit theaters on May 5th, 2023.
