New Look at Jamie Campbell Bower’s Celeborn in THE RINGS OF POWER Has Fans Declaring “Perfect Casting”
Jamie Campbell Bower has made a career out of playing unforgettable characters, and after terrifying audiences as Vecna and Henry Creel in Stranger Things, many fans expected his next major TV role to lean into another dark and sinister villain.
Instead, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is taking him in a completely different direction, and based on the internet's reaction, fans couldn't be happier.
It was recently confirmed that Bower will play Celeborn, the husband of Galadriel, in the upcoming third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
The role had been the subject of speculation for quite some time, with plenty of viewers assuming Bower had been cast as another antagonist. Instead, he'll be stepping into the shoes of one of Tolkien's most important Elves.
Bower even joked about the part in an interview with Empire, describing Celeborn as a "lover boy." Of course, this is Middle-earth, so that doesn't necessarily mean the character is all romance and peaceful woodland strolls.
A newly released image from the series gives fans their best look yet at Bower as Celeborn, and it's sparked a flood of enthusiastic reactions online.
Dressed in regal Elven armor and carrying himself with the kind of heroic presence you'd expect from one of Middle-earth's legendary figures, many fans think he looks like he walked straight out of Tolkien's pages.
The response has been positive. One comment on Empire's social media post simply reads, "Perfect casting," while another fan wrote, "Well the only time, this show has casted right."
One fan commented, "I was already seated but now I’m extra seated," while another shared, "This is the best move by Amazon regarding this show so far tbh, everyone loves this guy so they will all tune in at least to check the first episode …. Hopefully it delivers."
Perhaps the biggest surprise is how many Bower fans are now planning to jump into the series because of his involvement.
One person admitted, "didn’t see the last one but I’ll check this out," while another wrote, "I guess it’s time for me to get into this series now."
Bower has built a passionate fanbase over the years, and it looks like plenty of them are willing to give The Rings of Power a shot just to see what he brings to Middle-earth.
The excitement doesn't stop with the new character reveal. During San Diego Comic-Con, Prime Video also unveiled the first teaser trailer for Season 3, offering another glimpse of Bower's Celeborn alongside several new moments from the upcoming season.
Fans will still need a little patience, though. Amazon has confirmed that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 won't premiere until November 11, when the first episodes finally arrive on Prime Video.
If the reaction to Bower's debut image is any indication, Celeborn may end up being one of the season's biggest highlights. For a series that's had its share of passionate debates, this casting decision seems to be one thing a whole lot of fans can actually agree on.
