Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom Reportedly Set to First Appear in THE FANTASTIC 4: FIRST STEPS
It seems like fans are still reeling from the news that Robert Downey Jr. was cast as the MCU's version of Doctor Doom as they are still talking about what that means, and how exactly that will work.
While we don’t have any story details to share, a report has surfaced from movie insider Jeff Sneider, who says he knows when Downey Jr.’s Doom will make his MCU debut.
Sneider confirms that the plan is still for us to first meet Downey's Doctor Doom in the mid/post-credits scene for The Fantastic 4: First Steps.
It makes sense to introduce Doctor Doom in The Fantastic 4 movie since he has a long history in the comics with those characters. Then from there, things will lead to Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The Fantastic 4 is set in the ‘60s in an alternate-reality version of New York City. We saw some test footage of this at Comic-Con and it looks awesome! This movie looks unlike anything Marvel has ever done before and I can’t wait to see how this story plays out!
The movie stars Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing.
Paul Walter Houser also recently was cast in the project in an unknown role, Natasha Lyonne, and Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna) will take on the role of Shalla-Bal, who is an incarnation of Silver Surfer. Ralph Ineson will play Galactus.
The screenplay comes from Josh Friedman, who was brought in to rewrite the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
The Fantastic 4 is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
