Ryan Reynolds Says DEADPOOL Will Appease Critical Fanboys

It's been months since a Deadpool movie was officially confirmed by 20th Century Fox, but I'm still having trouble believing that it's actually moving forward. This is one of those projects, like a new Ghostbusters movie, that has been talked about endlessly for years and years, and now both of them are finally happening (and more, in Ghostbusters' case). Star Ryan Reynolds, who has spoken a lot about the film since its official greenlight, opened up again in a recent interview with Shortlist and mentioned that he thinks the film will definitely please the vocal, super critical section of fanboys that have been following this project for years:

I’m incredibly happy about it - we’ve got a director that understands that world, and writers with a slavish devotion to the canon of that character. That’s the most important aspect: it’s made in a way the most critical of fanboys could embrace. Well, that’s the hope.

It certainly sounds like Tim Miller has a good handle on what he needs to do with this movie, and even though it will be PG-13, we're hopeful it retains the sarcastic, meta, violent tone it needs to do the character justice.

Deadpool arrives in theaters on February 12th, 2016. For more on the film, click here.
