Santa and Mrs. Claus Kick Some Ass in Funny New VIOLENT NIGHT 2 Featurette
Santa Claus is back to cracking skulls for Christmas, and this time he's bringing his wife along for the fight! Universal Pictures has released a funny new making-of featurette for Violent Night 2, giving fans another look at David Harbour returning as the badass Santa Claus and Kristen Bell joining the holiday carnage as Mrs. Claus.
The sequel to the 2022 action comedy Violent Night once again puts Saint Nick in a situation where handing out presents takes a backseat to beating the hell out of bad guys. The new featurette highlights Harbour and Bell's characters and offers a fun look at the team bringing this crazy Christmas adventure to life.
This time, Santa finds himself stranded at the rundown Silver Bell Mall in New Jersey, cut off from the North Pole and facing a ruthless crime lord played by Jared Harris. The gangster and his crew have taken over the mall, terrorizing the local merchants and leaving Santa to handle the situation the only way he knows how.
Unfortunately, Santa has also lost his magic, making his latest fight a little more complicated. With Christmas running out of time and an entire community depending on him, he'll have to rediscover what makes the holiday worth fighting for.
That's where Mrs. Claus comes in. Bell joins the action as Santa's wife, who apparently has no problem getting her hands dirty when Christmas needs saving. Seeing Harbour and Bell team up to punish a bunch of criminals sounds like a pretty entertaining way to spend the holidays.
Tommy Wirkola returns to direct after delivering the original film, with screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller also coming back for another round of Christmas violence.
The sequel reunites the creative team with 87North, the action production company responsible for Bullet Train, John Wick, The Fall Guy, Atomic Blonde, and the Nobody films. So fans can expect plenty of creatively brutal action.
The supporting cast includes Joe Pantoliano, Daniela Melchior, Andrew Bachelor, and AEW wrestler Maxwell Friedman, joining Harris as part of the new ensemble.
The first Violent Night gave us a wonderfully ridiculous version of Santa who could take down an entire squad of mercenaries with his fists and whatever Christmas decorations happened to be lying around. Bringing Mrs. Claus into that madness could make the sequel even more fun, especially with Harbour and Bell playing off each other.
I'm curious to see what kind of punishment the two of them dish out together. Hopefully, the sequel delivers the same outrageous action and twisted holiday humor that made the original such a good time.
Violent Night 2 hits theaters on December 4, 2026.
