Scarlett Johansson Will Reportedly Return as Black Widow for AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and SECRET WARS
With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars said to include several of the original Avengers heroes from the MCU, common sense says the team wouldn’t be complete without Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.
Bringing all six team members back together for an epic assembly would be an awesome moment for fans to experience. Chris Evens’ Steve Rogers, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, and Johansson’s Black Widow back together would be amazing.
Obviously, some of them would need to be variants, but the whole MCU is built to allow that to happen now. Yeah, Nathasha Romanoff was killed off in Avengers: Endgame when she sacrificed herself so that Clint Barton could acquire the Soul Stone, but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t see a variant version of the character.
It was recently reported that the movie will feature an “overwhelming number of variants.” It’s not hard to imagine Black Widow could be one of them.
This latest report comes from Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman, who says that Johansson is a lock to reprise her role for the next Avengers movies.
Evans is already confirmed to return, and so is Robert Downey Jr. who will play Doctor Doom. But, I also think there’s a good chance we’ll also see him back as Iron Man as well. He’ll be pulling double duty. In fact, it’s rumored that a lot of the actors will be doing that as well.
It was reported that several actors will pull "double duty" in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The report said: "What I can tell you is that the secondary antagonists, whoever they may be, according to my sources, are going to be Variants.
“There is going to be an overwhelming number of variants in these movies, a lot more than the characters set to appear in these movies that from Earth-616. Some are going to be good, some are going to be bad, and some are going to be really worse.”
It’s going to be really interesting to see how these next two Avengers movies play out and to see who is going to show up in them.
Richtman has also heard that Marvel Studios is developing three new animated shows set in the MCU, but we don't have any more to go on just yet.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released in May 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive in May 2027.
