Shawn Levy Gives Update on His STAR WARS Movie as Well as His REAL STEEL Spinoff Series
Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy has a lot of projects he is trying to work on, but the strikes have rendered him at a standstill. When things pick back up, he will get right back to work on his highly anticipated Marvel movie, but fans are also wondering the status of his Star Wars movie, as well as his Real Steel series, which are both in development.
As for where exactly each project is in the process of being made, Levy was first asked about his Star Wars film, and he told Collider in a recent interview:
"We were just starting the process of developing my movie, and the writer strike happened. So we are in that holding pattern that so much of our industry is in.”
When asked if that was also the case for the Real Steel series, Levy confirmed the situation was almost identical, although he went slightly further by assuring fans of the film that he was desperate to make the project happen, and confirmed it was "alive" and ongoing. Levy explained:
"Same, I could literally say, ‘See above.’ Same. Still, as I told you, I want it as badly as the lovers of Real Steel want it, so alive, but paused."
So no big news, but neither project is dead, and that’s saying something with how studios are canceling things left and right these days. Let’s hope both the film and series stay right where they are until Levy can come back to pick them up again. For now, Deadpool 3 is still shooting for a May 3, 2024 release date. Stay tuned for more updates.
