Some of Sasha Calle's Supergirl Fight Scenes in THE FLASH Were Cut Because They Were a "Little Too Rated R"
Sasha Calle got to see a good amount of action as Supergirl in director Andy Muschietti’s The Flash. I really enjoyed her in the movie as she played a badass version of the character. As it turns out, there were even more awesome fight sequences that were shot for Supergirl, but they ended up being cut because they were a “little too rated R.”
During a recent interview with Collider, Calle teased:
“I did a lot of stunts for that [silo] scene and some, I think, were a little too rated R [laughs], and they ended up kind of, you know, bringing it in. There are so many visual effects, but maybe one day I can ask Andy to let me see them because there were so many, and as much as I love stunts, I would love to see it. I would love to see the wholeness of those shots.”
I’m sure a lot of the fans would love to see action shots as well! Who wouldn’t want to see Supergirl brutally kicking some ass!?
Calle previously talked about how she doesn’t want this to be a one-and-done superhero experience for her. She explained that she would love to keep playing Supergirl in the DC cinematic universe!
“I hope to continue playing Supergirl. I love her deeply! And I think that [The Flash] is really a runway to a bigger story for her. We don’t really get to experience a lot. I feel like this is a runway to a bigger story. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, by Tom King, is an incredible comic. I love it. I think it’s so cool. So yeah, I would hope to continue. I hope to continue playing Supergirl for sure.”
As of right now, we don’t really know what James Gunn and Peter Safran have planned for this version of Supergirl moving forward. They did previously announce a Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow series project that the actress mentioned, and in regards to that, they said:
“Super Girl Woman of Tomorrow. This is based on Tom King’s wonderful comic book series that came out just last year. It's up for a bunch of awards. This is a very different type of Super Girl. In our series, we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time is an infant versus super girl who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to earth when she was a young girl and is much more hardcore. She's not exactly the Super Girl we are used to seeing.”
We have no idea if Calle’s version of Supergirl will be the one that we see in this project. The whole thing could work as a prequel story that leads up to the events in The Flash. But, Gunn and Safran might introduce a whole new version of the character.
Would you like to see Calle play Supergirl again in the future?
