SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Director Says He’s “Nerding Out” Daily Over The Suit, Story, and Creating a Unique Ride

Spider-Man is officially swinging back into action with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and director Destin Daniel Cretton is soaking in every moment of it. As the Marvel sequel gears up for production, Cretton recently shared just how much joy he’s getting from diving deep into the world of the web-slinger.

Cretton said during a panel at CinemaCon: “I honestly can't believe every day, right now, I'm spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world.”

He goes on to admit that even the little things, like Spidey’s iconic costume, are a source of daily happiness for him.

“We’re all just daily nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven't really seen before.”

Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker, and this new chapter picks up after the emotionally heavy ending of No Way Home. With his identity erased from everyone’s memory, Peter’s future is a blank slate. Holland kept it vague, but hinted that Brand New Day will live up to its title.

“I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, where Peter Parker sacrificed his identity to save the people that he loves most in the world,” Holland said.

“So Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That's all I can say. That's all I've been allowed to say, and I'm well over the hump of giving away spoilers. So don't you worry, I'm not gonna do that today.”

The only other confirmed cast member at this point is Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, though Marvel is keeping her role tightly under wraps. That, of course, hasn’t stopped fans from already crafting theories faster than Spider-Man can spin a web.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to arrive on the big screen on July 31, 2026.
