STAR WARS: THE ACOLYTE Will Feature Vernestra Rwoh a Jedi Knight From The High Republic Era
During The High Republic presentation at Star Wars Celebration, it was revealed that The High Republic era character Vernestra Rwoh will be making her live-action debut in Lucasfilm’s upcoming series Star Wars: The Acolyte. It was also announced that the character will be played by Rebecca Henderson.
Rwoh is a Mirialan Jedi Knight and a fan-favorite from her appearances in Star Wars books and comics. The actress who’s playing her is known for her roles in projects such as Russian Doll, Inventing Anna, and Westworld. You can see an image of her in the role below.
For those of you not familiar with the character, Vernestra Rwoh “joined the Jedi Order at a young age, with her family group celebrating the discovery of her Force-sensitivity. She eventually became the Padawan of a human male Jedi Master, Stellan Gios. Vernestra was enough of a prodigy that she eventually attained the rank of Jedi Knight at the age of only fifteen, making her the youngest Knight in a generation.”
The story is set in the High Republic era, and the story is described as "a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated." The series takes place 100 years before the franchise’s prequel trilogy. The High Republic era is known as the Golden Age of the Jedi, a time when the ancient order was at its peak.
Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) created the series and while talking about the project she previously described it as “Frozen meets Kill Bill.” You can read some additional details on the series along with a description of footage that was shared here.
