SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW Gets a Summer 2026 Release Date

DC Studios will release Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in theaters on June 26th, 2026. This will be the second DCU movie to be released after James Gunn’s Superman.

It was previously reported that the movie would go into production after Gunn is finished shooting Superman. So, Supergirl will be the next DC film to go into production.

Ana Nogueira is writing the screenplay for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Craig Gillespie (Cruella and I, Tonya) is set to direct Woman of Tomorrow. Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) will take on the role of Kara Zor-El.

It was previously explained that the movie is “based on Tom King’s wonderful comic book series that came out just last year… This is a very different type of Super Girl.”

in this film “we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time is an infant versus super girl who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to earth when she was a young girl and is much more hardcore. She's not exactly the Supergirl we are used to seeing.”

In that story from King’s comic: “Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but she now finds her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for?”

Wherever she goes, “people only see her through the lens of Superman’s fame. Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there.”

She wants revenge, “and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core.”

I’m curious to see how this movie turns out.
