SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW: Matthias Schoenaerts Reportedly in Talks to Play Main Villain
A new report has surfaced for DC Studios’ Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow claiming that The Old Guard actor Matthias Schoenaerts is in talks to play the villain in the film, Krem of the Yellow Hills.
The news comes from scooper MTTSH, and if it’s true the actor will join House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock in the movie, who is set to play Supergirl.
In Tom King's Supergirl comic series, Krem is a ruthless Kingsasgent responsible for killing Ruthye Marye Knoll's father and incurring the wrath of Kara Zor-El by putting an arrow in Krypto.
It was previously explained that the movie is “based on Tom King’s comic book series that came out just last year… This is a very different type of Super Girl.”
In this film “we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time is an infant versus super girl who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to earth when she was a young girl and is much more hardcore. She's not exactly the Supergirl we are used to seeing.”
In that story from King’s comic: “Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but she now finds her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for?”
Wherever she goes, “people only see her through the lens of Superman’s fame. Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there.”
She wants revenge, “and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core.”
Craig Gillespie (Cruella and I, Tonya) is set to direct the film, Ana Nogueira is writing the script, and James Gunn is producing.
Woman of Tomorrow will be the second DCU movie to be released in theaters after Gunn's Superman. Warner Bros. recently announced it will be released on June 26, 2026.
